Sophie Robé, CFA, PhD | CEO & Founder
Sophie founded Phenix Capital BV in July 2012. She is director of Phenix Capital Advisory Ltd and a part of the advisory and marketing team of Phenix Capital. She has also co-founded Phenix Capital Impact events in 2015 and has hosted the Impact Summit Europe ever since. Prior to that, Sophie was working as Director and Head of Hedge fund Sales at Jupiter Asset Management in London and as a Vice President at Commerzbank Asset Management in Germany. Sophie is a French citizen, mother of 2 children. She is a CFA Charterholder and holds a PhD in Economics and Statistics of the University of Kassel in Germany. She wrote her Master Thesis on Environmental Impact assessment in 1992 and is a Diplom Oekonom. She did her economics and business studies at the INSEEC business school in Paris.
Dirk Meuleman, CFA, CAIA | Managing Director
Dirk is a partner at Phenix Capital and is responsible for the due diligence and monitoring of Impact Funds. He has extensive experience as an investor in Private Equity and Infrastructure funds at Shell and MN (second largest Dutch pension fund) and sat on the advisory board of over 20 private equity funds.
Dirk is Dutch and holds degrees in International Business Administration, Entrepreneurship and Public administration from Erasmus University in Rotterdam. He is a CFA and CAIA Charterholder.
Marieke Francois, MBA | Consultant
Marieke joined the team of Phenix Capital as a consultant in January 2017. Prior to joining Phenix, she was an impact investment manager at ACTIAM and PGGM and a program manager at DOEN Foundation.
Marieke also worked in microfinance institutions in Palestine and Mexico. Marieke holds an MBA from the Kellogg School of Management and a Master in Development Studies from the University of Utrecht.
A Dutch national, Marieke has lived in Israel, the Palestinian territories, Mexico, Bolivia and Norway.
Bruno Besek | Associate
Bruno is an associate at Phenix Capital. He joined as an intern in June 2016 while he was finishing his Master degree in Development Economics at the University of Amsterdam. At the Faculty of Economics and Business, University of Zagreb, Bruno was a member of the presidency of the Financial Club, a student association providing additional investment education to interested students.
Bruno comes from Croatia, holds a Bachelor Degree in Economics from the University of Zagreb and speaks English and Croatian (fluent) and German, Italian and Spanish (conversant).
Bhavana Poosarla | Associate
Bhavana joined Phenix Capital as an Associate intern in September 2016. She holds a Bachelors degree in Civil Engineering and a Master's degree in Management at Rotterdam School of Management, Erasmus University. She wrote her masters' thesis on Responsible investing. Bhavana has previously worked as a Systems engineer focusing on Big data at Infosys and as a Student consultant for Opple Lighting.
Bhavana is from India. She is a CFA level 2 candidate and is a volunteer at UNICEF and Alternatives4Children.
Arnau Gil | Associate Intern
Arnau joined Phenix Capital as an Associate Intern in August 2017. Prior to that, he spent two years at the Research Division of IESE Business School, working on private equity and impact investing projects for academic and investment purposes. Previously, he interned as an analyst at 7 Global Capital, a tech-focused
private equity fund, based in London. Arnau started his career at Everis Banking, working in a derivatives- focused Graduate Program. He holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, three Post-Graduate Diplomas in Financial Economics, Financial Products and Portfolio Management respectively and a Master's
Degree in Financial Markets, all at the University of Barcelona; He attended the Social Innovation & Social Entrepreneurship Program at IESE Business School and is a CFA Level II Candidate. Arnau is native in Catalan and Spanish, fluent in English and conversational in French. He serves as a volunteer at the Barcelona Food Bank and at Alternatives4Children and collaborates as a Partner with the NGO
“The South Face”.
Amy Farrell | Founder and President of Privos Advisory
Amy Farrell acts as a strategic advisor to Phenix Capital and provides guidance on how best to achieve our mission and vision. Amy is Founder and President of Privos Advisory, a U.S.-based consulting firm that works with asset owners to define investment mandates according to sustainability preferences and identify investment opportunities. Privos Advisory has strategic partnerships with family offices, institutional investors and intermediaries. Prior to her work with Privos, Ms. Farrell spent a decade as Principal and Head of Global Sales for Investor Select Advisors (ISA), a fund of funds. Her clients included e.g. pension funds, endowments, foundations, and family offices. Before joining ISA, Ms. Farrell ran international public relations at E*TRADE and worked with U.S. institutional investors at Blackrock and International Finance Corporation (IFC). She holds a Bachelors in Asian Studies from Vassar College and a Masters from the Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies. Ms. Farrell is a member of US SIF and the Intentional Endowments Network.
