The world is facing an abundance of environmental and societal challenges. The ambitions of countries committed to tackling these challenges are clear. On September 25, 2015 they adopted 17 United Nations Sustainable Development Goals to be achieved by 2030 with three broad targets:
End poverty, Protect the planet, and Ensure prosperity for all.
Phenix Capital is a proud signatory of the Dutch SDGI agenda. Collaborating with 18 Dutch financial institutions, which collectively manage over €2.8 trillion in assets, we participated in a six-month consultation process with more than 70 fellow investors, government representatives, and expert practitioners. In the report, we offered concrete ways in which to accelerate and scale investing in the SDGs.
The Dutch government and DNB were invited to collaborate with the signatories to continue to take action in support of the 2030 Agenda in at least four areas of action:
- Catalyze significant SDG investment through the systematic deployment of blended finance instruments
- Make SDG investment the 'new normal' by encouraging and enabling all Dutch retail investors to invest with impact
- Establish an enabling SDGI data environment by stimulating the uptake of sustainability indicators and standards
- Identify and address actual and perceived regulatory barriers and incentives to SDG investments
