Before joining Prudential, Berkley served in a variety of investment, program, and evaluation roles at the W. K. Kellogg Foundation. As director of Mission Driven Investments he led a team building a $100M portfolio of mission-aligned and market-rate investments from the W.K. Kellogg Foundation endowment. He also served as deputy director for Education & Learning, where he was responsible for planning, operations, and grants management for an 18-member team with a $250 million portfolio of grants and contracts. Partnerships to Assure Ready Kids (SPARK) initiative, where he managed program implementation, strategic communications and outcomes evaluation in seven states and the District of Columbia.
Berkley is a linguistic anthropologist with a PhD from the University of Chicago. He has been a past grantee of The Wenner-Gren Foundation for Anthropological Research, The Spencer Foundation for Research Related to Education and The Tinker Foundation. He has held faculty positions at the University of Chicago and the University of Michigan. He is the author of numerous publications and presentations in the fields of impact investing, knowledge management, education and anthropology.
