Sophie Robé, CFA, PhD
Sophie founded Phenix Capital BV in July 2012 and is a Managing Director. She has also co-founded Phenix Capital Impact events in 2015 and has hosted the Impact Summit Europe ever since. Prior to that, Sophie was working as Director and Head of Hedge fund Advisory at Jupiter Asset Management in London and as a Vice President at Commerzbank Asset Management in Germany where she was head of quantitative Equity Analysis. She is a co-founder of Alternatives 4 Children, an education focus charity which supports children in needs. Sophie is a French citizen, mother of 2 children. She is a CFA Charterholder and holds a PhD in Economics and Statistics of the University of Kassel in Germany. She wrote her Master Thesis on Environmental Impact assessment in Kassel in 1992 and is a Diplom Oekonom.
Dirk Meuleman, CFA, CAIA
Dirk is a Managing Director at Phenix Capital and is responsible for the due diligence and monitoring of Impact Funds. He has extensive experience as an investor in Private Equity and Infrastructure funds at Shell and MN (third largest Dutch pension fund) and sat on the advisory board of over 20 private equity funds. Dirk is Dutch and holds degrees in International Business Administration, Entrepreneurship and Public administration from Erasmus University in Rotterdam. He is a CFA and CAIA Charterholder.
Marieke francois, mba
Marieke is the Director of impact investing at Phenix Capital. She joined the team as a consultant in January 2017. Prior to joining Phenix, she was an impact investment manager at ACTIAM and PGGM and a program manager at DOEN Foundation. Marieke also worked in microfinance institutions in Palestine and Mexico. Marieke holds an MBA from the Kellogg School of Management and a Master in Development Studies from the University of Utrecht. A Dutch national, Marieke has lived in Israel, the Palestinian territories, Mexico, Bolivia and Norway.
Martijn schoonhoven, CEFA
Martijn is responsible for advisory services and relationship management to Phenix Capital clients. Prior to joining Phenix in 2018 he worked for Julius Bär, Deutsche Bank, UBS and MeesPierson as Relationship and Investment Manager for UHNW clients, Family Offices and Charitable Foundations. Martijn holds a law master degree from Leiden University and is a CEFA charter holder. In addition to his work at Phenix, Martijn is member of Member Ethics & Integrity Committee of CFA Society-VBA Netherlands and President at Mixed Hockey Club Forescate.
pratibha sharma, LLB, MBA
Pratibha is a IACCM Certified Practitioner with more than 9 years of experience in the field of Commercial law and driving the commercial business growth of the Company through sales and negotiations. Before joining Phenix Capital as a Legal Counsel, she has previously worked as a Senior Contacts Manager at Computer Science Corporation, Senior Legal Associate at UnitedLex and as a Legal Associate for CPA Global.
Pratibha did her PG Diploma on Cyber Laws from Indian Law Institute, MBA in Human Resources Management from SCDL and graduated in Law (LL.B) from Delhi University. Pratibha is from India and speaks Hindi and English.
Niki is an adviser to Phenix Capital. After more than 20 years as an investment journalist, she founded In Ink (London), a company specialising in creative content and communication in 2014. Prior to launching In Ink (London), Niki was editor of InvestHedge, a monthly publication specialising in hedge fund investors. During this time, she also hosted the InvestHedge Forum, a two-day event connecting investors with hedge funds, and the annual InvestHedge Awards gala. Niki has worked at Financial News and Institutional Investor covering the securities finance industry, global mutual funds, foreign exchange and institutional investors. A qualified NLP coach, Niki graduated in Geography from Durham University.
Yana joined Phenix Capital team in December 2017, taking the lead of Phenix Impact Events. Prior to joining the Phenix team, Yana gained extensive experience in fundraising events for different charity projects and she’s also on the Board of Directors of Alphabet Club Amsterdam foundation, funding school projects for underprivileged children in developing countries. In total, Yana enjoyed almost 20 years working in an international environment of retail and premium fashion, representing a few well-known brands during her career and at some point managing a region up to 14 stores and 70 FTEs. Yet Yana’s passion towards events and finding the positive social & environmental “impact” increasingly important, brought her into our team. In her private time Yana also holds women-empowerment seminars with her Amsterdam based initiative “International Ladies Club”. Yana is originally from St. Petersburg, Russia, is a global citizen, yet calling The Netherlands her home from the year 2000. She gained her Bachelor degree in International Management with cum-loude distinction at the Hogeschool van Amsterdam and quickly streamlined into the international fashion management environment. Yana speaks English, Dutch, Russian and even a little French.
Bibi has over 15 years of sales and distribution experience across asset classes and geographies with a special emphasis on hedge funds. She joins us from Charlemagne Capital where she was Head of Sales and Marketing for the OCCO Eastern European Fund and where she was instrumental in institutionalising the asset base of the Fund. Prior to that Bibi was a Managing Director at Alpha UCITS and Head of Marketing for Insparo Asset Management, a frontiers market specialist. Bibi spent six years at Deutsche Bank’s DB Advisors Group, where she was Head of Institutional Hedge Fund Sales, growing assets year-over-year for both established and start-up funds. Bibi started her career in New York at Clinton Group in 1998 where she worked for six years. She spent the last two years of her tenure at Clinton in their London office, where she was responsible for selling Clinton’s hedge funds. Bibi has a BA in Economics from the University of Paris X.
Okko is responsible for the business development for Institutional and Wholesale clients in the Benelux at Phenix Capital. Okko has over 19 years of experience in the Financial Services industry. Prior to joining Phenix Capital he worked for J.Safra Sarasin, an independent consultancy and advisory firm in the asset management sector, ABN AMRO and Achmea Global Investors. He held various director roles in business development for the Netherlands and Benelux, relationship management, consulting and product development. Okko earned his master's degree in Business Economics from the University of Groningen and is a CEFA charter holder. Within the CFA Society-VBA Netherlands he is the chairman of the Program Committee focusing on organizing knowledge sharing events for investment professionals in the Netherlands.
Manfred has broad experience in institutional Investment Management with a demonstrated track record of working in the asset management sector for a selection of thought leading (international) organisations, in various roles and responsibilities. He is skilled in Business Development, Sales Management and Client Relationship Management, expert asset management and has experience with Fiduciary Management, Value/Growth and Quant style asset managers.
Sandrine joined Phenix Capital in January 2018 and is in charge of the Accounting and Finance function for the Phenix Capital Group. She worked for 15 years in Finance, starting as an external auditor at Ernst & Young Paris then in several Management Accounting and Reporting positions in international groups such as Elsevier and IDEXX. She also worked as a freelance Finance consultant and delivered lectures for Business School students in Paris. Sandrine has a Life Science Engineering degree from AgroParisTech (formerly known as INA-PG) and graduated from HEC, leading French business school. She also passed the DESCF (French CPA-equivalent). Born in France, Sandrine has lived in the Netherlands for over 10 years. She speaks French, English and Dutch.
Simona is responsible for the services to the companies within Phenix Capital. Prior to joining Phenix Capital, Simona has built a broad experience in Banking working 11 years at Deutsche Bank in Investment Banking, Relationship Management for Corporates and Structured Commodity Finance. Simona is Italian, mother of 2 daughters, speaks Italian, English, French, Dutch and Spanish and holds a Master Degree in Business Economics from the University of Florence, also studied Economics at Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona and the Université de Paris Sud (Paris XI). Simona is a Certified Yoga Teacher, she volunteers in various associations in her community and strives to make positive changes to the economy assisting social enterprises in their growth
Bruno is an associate at Phenix Capital. He joined as an intern in June 2016 while he was finishing his Master degree in Development Economics at the University of Amsterdam. At the Faculty of Economics and Business, University of Zagreb, Bruno was a member of the presidency of the Financial Club, a student association providing additional investment education to interested students. Bruno comes from Croatia, holds a Bachelor Degree in Economics from the University of Zagreb and speaks English and Croatian (fluent) and German, Italian and Spanish (conversant).
Bhavana is an associate at Phenix Capital. She joined as an Associate intern in September 2016 while she was finishing her Master's degree in Management at Rotterdam School of Management, Erasmus University. She wrote her masters' thesis on Responsible investing. Bhavana has previously worked as a Systems engineer focusing on Big data at Infosys and as a Student consultant on supply chain management for Opple Lighting. Bhavana is from India and holds a Bachelors degree in Civil Engineering. She is a CFA level 2 candidate and is a volunteer at UNICEF and Alternatives4Children. She is fluent in English, Telugu and Hindi.
Arnau joined Phenix Capital as an Associate Intern in August 2017. Prior to that, he spent two years at the Research Division of IESE Business School, working on private equity and impact investing projects for academic and investment purposes. Previously, he interned as an analyst at 7 Global Capital, a tech-focused private equity fund, based in London. Arnau started his career at Everis Banking, working in a derivatives- focused Graduate Program. He holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, three Post-Graduate Diplomas in Financial Economics, Financial Products and Portfolio Management respectively and a Master's Degree in Financial Markets, all at the University of Barcelona; He attended the Social Innovation & Social Entrepreneurship Program at IESE Business School and is a CFA Level II Candidate. Arnau is native in Catalan and Spanish, fluent in English and conversational in French. He serves as a volunteer at the Barcelona Food Bank and at Alternatives4Children and collaborates as a Partner with the NGO “The South Face”.
Jack joined as an Associate intern in August 2017. He holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Geography from the University of Manchester, and has also studied in Scandinavia at Lund University, where he focused on Human Ecology and African Development. Jack is a British citizen, and serves as a volunteer for Alternatives4Children.
Salma joined our team on March 2018 as an Impact Investing fund analyst intern. Before that, she worked as an investment analyst in an impact investing fund named UBERIS Capital in Vietnam and as an associate in a consulting firm in Singapore. Salma is Moroccan and is currently doing a gap year between her two years of master’s degree in Finance at Kedge Business School (“Grande école” program) in Bordeaux, France. Salma was from 2015 to 2017 head of marketing and communication of the student office of her school and is since 2014 a volunteer at “Les enfants de l’Akkari” in Morocco (Rabat).
Joshua joined the Phenix Impact Events team in February 2018. He holds a PhD in Chinese Studies from Leiden University, a MPhil in Ethnomusicology from the Chinese University of Hong Kong, and a BA in Music from the Hong Kong Baptist University. During his musical and academic years, he has organized numerous conferences, concerts and social events. Joshua is a Hong Kong citizen and speaks Cantonese, Mandarin and English.
